Mental health is not a straight line
Recovery therefore looks different from person to person and is ultimately as unique as the individual.
“Not every story has a happy ending, ... but the discoveries of science, the teachings of the heart, and the revelations of the soul all assure us that no human being is ever beyond redemption. The possibility of renewal exists so long as life exists. How to support that possibility in others and in ourselves is the ultimate question.” - Dr Gabor Maté
Adam Labuschagne
Hi, I am Adam. By profession, I am a social worker with a specialization in substance abuse. But I am also an average, empathic person, finding my way through life, figuring out the challenging parts as I go along, and trying not to forget to notice and appreciate the joy and smile-worthy moments.
I am told by my family that it was evident from an early age that I would be in the helping profession, specifically social work. I guess they were onto something, and I am very pleased that they are right.
5 out of 5 stars
“
Adam is one of a selected group of individuals who manage to integrate theory and practice without effort.
He works with a unique understanding of the realities and devastation associated with substance use disorders not only for those struggling with the disease but also for families having to accommodate the disease.
He has an almost unreal capacity to build trust through both connection and vulnerability resulting in a therapeutic connection that provides for the development of insight and understanding on a deep human level.
Adam values empowerment and moves comfortably between the role of coach and challenger to assist the client in moving from victim to skillful creator of connection with self and others.
He embodies the values associated with professional therapists and I am comfortable to refer individuals and families that have a desire to gain insight and understanding into having to live with a substance use disorder.
His personal experience combined with workplace experience both in an in-patient and out-patient setting allows for effective assessment treatment and referral of clients and families.
He is my primary referral option for assessment, individual and family intervention, after-care, and relapse analysis.

Helping others
Pay It Forward Wallet
In recovery culture, one of the earliest and well know. principles we encounter and or are taught is to show gratitude for what we have gained.
We accomplish this by giving “it” away (share it) or paying it forward.
